ragged and torn
scraps of me
tattered and rancid
threads of reality
fragment pieces
of a mismatched whole
fall apart
from the weight of being

a wound
that never heals
constantly bleeding
within me
scabs and clots
of who I used to be
without the scar tissue
am I even real?

I've been this way so long
I can't remember peace
what does it mean
to be painless and free
who is the person
buried beneath the broken flesh
or is only darkness left
deep within the wreck?

scabs and lesions
always bleeding
endless tides of pain
never receding

there is only so much
that one life can take
before the walls collapse
with no room left to breath
a shell of skin and bone
holds a mind beyond repair
the person once inside
slowly drowned beneath despair
